Frequently asked questions

How often are my domains checked?

Every 24 hours on Free, every 6 hours on Pro, and every hour on Max. Each pass re-reads certificate data from public Certificate Transparency logs and registration data from RDAP, and performs a real TLS handshake where supported.

Where does the expiry data come from?

Certificates come from public Certificate Transparency logs (crt.sh) and are verified with a real TLS handshake. Domain registration data comes from RDAP, the official successor to WHOIS. No guessing, no scraping of your site.

Which notification channels are supported?

Email, Slack, Discord, ntfy and generic webhooks (which also covers DingTalk and Feishu). Paid plans can enable several channels at once for the same monitor.

Is my data safe?

CertBeacon only reads publicly available certificate and registration data. We never need access to your servers, credentials or private keys — there is simply nothing sensitive for us to hold.

Why we built CertBeacon

CertBeacon started as a tool we needed ourselves. A domain and its certificate are the two lifelines of any website — and both fail silently: nothing warns you that a certificate is 7 days from expiry.

Every check runs against public data — Certificate Transparency logs, RDAP records, verified with real TLS handshakes. There is nothing to install, and we never touch your servers or your keys.
